Samar Jarrah is hosting Noura Erakat a human rights attorney and author of Justice for Some: Law and the Question of Palestine discussing the peace treaty that was signed by Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Israel, which was led by the United States.
We talk with Noura about the history of US foreign policy in the Middle East and how they enforce their influence around the world. Their primary objective is access to resources in the region and in return, countries that align with US foreign policy receive military benefits and can enforce their dictatorships in peace with the US turning a blind eye.
The UAE and Bahrain argue that peace in the region will bring prosperity to the Arab world, but evidence has shown that this is not the case taking Egypt as a prime example. (Egypt signed a peace agreement with Israel in 1978). Also how do these treaties affect the Palestinian cause? Is the two state solution dead?
